In the world of professional golf, this weekend is expected to be extremely exciting both on and off the course, with attention focused on the PGA Tour’s Arnold Palmer Invitational and LIV Hong Kong.

During the Bay Hill Signature Event, Tiger Woods, a man who was not present at the event, dominated PGA Tour conversation. The top players on the Tour will be at TPC Sawgrass next week, but one man won’t be there is Woods, who was excluded from the entry list on Friday.

After shooting a six-under-par 64 in Hong Kong, Jon Rahm, who is attempting to capture his first individual LIV Golf trophy, is tied for fourth on the breakaway circuit.

In light of the current division in professional golf, Webb Simpson, the player director for the PGA Tour, is hoping that a contract with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia may be finalized as soon as possible.

“We’re worried that the LIV tour might draw in additional players, so we don’t want to merely close a deal. That is undoubtedly a fear. However, I believe it’s evident that a deal is necessary.

“It’s all written on the wall. We’re not in a position where we have to make a financial transaction. For the sake of the game, we must come to an agreement. And for the long-term viability of the PGA Tour. That’s what I’m hoping.”
