Superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks has already won two MVP awards. Now that the Bucks talisman has had such a tremendous season, he might be headed toward a third championship.

Many people aren’t sure that Giannis should be the front-runner for the MVP award, despite the incredible things he has been doing this season. Doc Rivers, the head coach of the Bucks, says this is just insulting.

There isn’t much noise about Antetokounmpo’s MVP candidacy this season, in Coach Doc’s opinion, for one main reason. Giannis, in Rivers’ opinion, is carrying on the legacy of Michael Jordan, the greatest player of all time.

Not that the Bucks star is trying to emulate Michael Jordan’s aura or anything, but Rivers contends that, like Jordan, the media may be becoming weary of Giannis’ brilliance:

According to Eric Nehm of The Athletic, Rivers stated, “I don’t even want to get into it, but there’s been guys that you get tired of voting for.” Michael Jordan may be considered the embodiment of that.

And Giannis appears to fall into that group, where everyone takes your skill for granted. Even simply looking at his figures shows how amazing they are, but you never hear his name. In some ways, that’s more of a statement of respect than of disdain, which is unbelievable.

He is not incorrect.
