PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are quarterback hunting, which has brought up speculation about each and every available passer on the market. But according to one former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, their next starter is already set in stone. Chad Johnson, former Bengals wideout, said on the Nightcap podcast that “a little birdie” has told him Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is going to sign with the Steelers this offseason.

Wilson is still under contract with the Broncos but is expected to be released prior to free agency. Russell has $30 million in signing bonuses coming his way from Denver, but the team is supposedly willing to take on an $86 million dead cap to move on. The Steelers remain firm that Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett are their top options this offseason, but that hasn’t stopped everyone from naming the next star quarterback in Pittsburgh. Along with Wilson, Justin Fields, Kirk Cousins, and most recently, Jimmy Garoppolo have been named potential fits for the Steelers.

Everyone and their mother is expecting the Denver Broncos to do away with Russell Wilson before the 2024 training camp begins. The Russell Wilson experiment crashed and burned at Mile High City, and Sean Payton is actively looking for a new QB to replace the one-time Super Bowl winner.

There aren’t a lot of potential replacements for Mr. Unlimited in the free-agent market, and they don’t have a great draft capital to get the field general they like in a talented
