Leeds United could look to bring in a new centre-back if Charlie Cresswell leaves this month.

Cresswell is said to be unhappy at Elland Road due to his lack of game time under Daniel Farke, having played just a single minute of football since the Carabao Cup defeat at Salford City in August.

The 21-year-old’s Dad Richard only heightened reports of his discontent on Instagram before Sunday’s 3-0 win at Peterborough United, where he was once again left out of the squad.

But with interest in his services vast, there is a chance that he does move on, but that would require Leeds bringing in a replacement, and one player who has been linked is Hammarby’s Nathaniel Adjei.

Leeds are said to have held a meeting with the Swedish side last week over a deal for Adjei, but according to LUFCFanZone, the Whites have decided against signing the youngster.

Leeds to move onto other centre-back targets

Leeds were one of several clubs interested in a deal for Adjei, who is available this month for around £3 million. Elland Road, though, won’t be his destination.

Instead, Leeds are expected to look at other targets and one player who has been mentioned over the last few days is Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham.

Mepham has been out of favour under Andoni Iraola this season and left the door open for an exit last weekend following Bournemouth’s 3-2 FA Cup win at QPR, in which he was hooked at half-time.

The 26-year-old, along with Connor Roberts and David Brooks, is one of several Welsh internationals to have been linked with a move to Leeds before the end of the window.

In Ethan Ampadu, Dan James and Joe Rodon, there are three already here and so it will be interesting to see if that helps Leeds get some of these players over the line.
