CLEARWATER, Florida: Based on the sound of things, Brandon Marsh might be included in Rob Thomson’s Spring Training starting lineup soon.

The outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies is recuperating from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, which he had on February 9. The Phillies stated at the time that they thought Marsh would be ready for Opening Day on March 28, and it appears like they still feel that way.

Thomson remarked of Marsh on Saturday, “Yeah, so he had five at-bats again today.” He has therefore only had BP at-bats since the mid-20s. I think he’s going to DH in the intrasquad player development game tomorrow. He will therefore receive a few at-bats there and truly break out of the box. Thus, we are moving forward.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was denied an extra-base single on Saturday thanks to a fantastic catch made by Johan Rojas against the Toronto Blue Jays. Rojas saw pitches better on Saturday than he had on previous at-bats, but he still went 0-for-3 and now has only five hits in 27 at-bats this spring.

On Opening Day, Marsh might start in center field against any of Whit Merrifield, Cristian Pache, Jake Cave, or David Dahl if Rojas is ultimately optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Pache might also be able to play center field while Marsh plays left field.
