Misunderstood Tottenham star reveals ‘offers’ to leave

Cristian Romero, a defender for Tottenham Hotspur, has disclosed that he has already had approaches to leave the team this summer, but he has no plans to do so.

Romero has now played for Tottenham for two seasons, the most recent of which ended poorly for the team. They did, in fact, lose out on qualifying for Europe the next season due to their poor Premier League result of eighth.

Ange Postecoglou has taken over as manager of Spurs, and the team is embarking on a new chapter. They could, nevertheless, lose a few important players.

The owner of Tottenham, Joe Lewis, has instructed Daniel Levy to sell Harry Kane if he chooses not to extend his contract. This has sparked interest from Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and possibly Manchester United.

Spurs have agreed to sell Davinson Sanchez to Spartak Moscow, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is eager to go for Atletico Madrid.

Although Sanchez will be leaving their defense, Romero, who is usually more dependable, has refuted rumors that he may be leaving as well.

At a Perth Children’s Hospital event, Romero retaliated against allegations that he loves more about Argentina, the team he won the World Cup with, than his club, telling reporters that he would have gone if it were the truth.

Romero stated: “I have a long-term contract with the club, so it’s obvious that the individuals saying this don’t know me.

“I always strive to offer my all. You accept that things didn’t always work out perfectly the previous season. However, I always want to offer everything I have on the field.

“I would try to leave the club if I didn’t feel the same desire. I’ll be the first to admit that last season wasn’t the best for me, but even so, I’m not satisfied with how it ended, and when other teams tried to lure me away for the upcoming campaign, I turned them down because I want to spend my best years here.

I really like the Premier League, I really like Tottenham and I want to be here for many more years to come.”

Romero ready to spend prime years at Tottenham

At the age of 25, Romero is approaching the prime of his career. His contract with Tottenham is due to last until 2027.

Spurs are in the market for reinforcements at centre-back this summer. However, of their existing options in the role, Romero is perhaps the one with the safest future.

Since coming to the team on a temporary loan from Atalanta and then a permanent move last summer, he has made 64 appearances for the team.

Romero could return to Juventus, one of his previous clubs, in exchange for Gleison Bremer, according to reports from TNT Sports in his home Argentina last month.
