With the promise of an official head coach coming into the fold sooner rather than later, fresh optimism surrounds the Carolina Panthers. Fans are eagerly awaiting the new era beginning this offseason, with interim head coach Steve Wilks setting the foundations for genuine progress after turning around a drastic mess left behind by Matt Rhule.

General manager Scott Fitterer and other important figures within the Panthers are already planning how to best approach the coming months before any head coach arrives. If they hit on most big calls, then Carolina might have a chance to seize the initiative in an NFC South that could be losing quarterback Tom Brady this spring.

Some decisions will be difficult. Others, especially on the playing side of things, could be foregone conclusions making life a little easier for those in power.

With this in mind, here are four Panthers players who are all but guaranteed to leave the team in 2023.

After becoming a special teams specialist in 2022, Sean Chandler’s time with the Carolina Panthers might be at an end. The veteran safety cannot be relied upon for any consistency on the defensive rotation and there is no former college coach to provide a reprieve after Matt Rhule’s firing.

Although the Panthers are a little thin of reliable options on the backend, Chandler hasn’t done enough to warrant an extended stay in Carolina. Especially with a new coaching regime bringing their own ideas.
