Man United defender Sergio Reguilon has discussed his relationship with Erik ten Hag following his deadline day loan move from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur

Sergio Reguilon has a great relationship with Erik ten Hag and believes that the two men share the same “philosophy”.

Manchester United decided to sign Reguilon on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur on transfer deadline day. With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia sidelined for long periods, more support was needed at left-back and Reguilon was chosen in place of Marc Cucurella.

United previously tried to sign the Spaniard but instead opted for Alex Telles, but it’s good they got him with Aaron Wan-Bissaka also unavailable. United are having an injury crisis and Reguilon himself even came off the field in the win over Burnley with a knock.

It’s a shame because the 26-year-old has impressed in his first few outings under Ten Hag, with whom he believes he shares similar views. “He wanted me to come and I wanted to come here too,” he told United’s official website. “Everything is very easy.

“Now I’m here and we talked in training about what he wants from a left-back. I think we have the same philosophy. He likes hard-working people and I also like hard work just. I think we’re on the same wavelength.” .”

Reguilon loved playing at Old Trafford and is happy to now be doing so in red. “I played there [at Old Trafford] for the away side once during Covid and so, unfortunately, there were no fans but, the next time, the stadium was full and it was truly amazing, ” he added.

“It’s a historic stadium and really special. There’s so much history. As we say in Spain, they are gentlemen. They have been through it all [and] it’s amazing to see this in football.”
