If Tottenham allows Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to leave, they run the risk of leaving Ange Postecoglou short in January. Juventus has shown a great interest in the midfielder. Under Postecoglou, Spurs have had a barnstorming start to the season, with fans encouraged by the course the team is taking.
They moved up to second place in the standings and are now only one point behind Manchester City after stealing all three points from Liverpool in a thrilling game at the weekend. Even though there is still a long way to go and just seven games have been played, there are already indications that Tottenham will be a serious contender to return to the Champions League.

After completely missing out on playing in Europe this season, it would have been Tottenham’s major goal at the start of the season. The ultimate goal is to play in the Champions League, and the Premier League top four starts to take shape in January.

By January, Tottenham will still want to be a contender, especially though they will lose two of their great midfielders to the Africa Cup of Nations. This season, Postecoglou has favored the African combo of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr to play alongside James Maddison because to their early-season success.

Both players will miss the crucial encounter against Manchester United because the Africa Cup of Nations is taking place from January 13 to February 11. Additionally, Postecoglou may need to use his squad in games against Brentford, Everton, and Brighton if they are unable to play.

However, selling Hojbjerg would be a significant risk for Tottenham and might leave Postecoglou without many options at a pivotal time in the season. While Bentancur appears to be on track to return from injury the following month, his level of fitness won’t be completely known for some time.

Although Skipp has established himself as a reliable squad player for Tottenham, Postecoglou won’t want to depend on the 23-year-old too frequently. Hojbjerg is a well-known international talent, and Tottenham is well-prepared should any other injuries arise thanks to his midfield expertise.

It would be considered a wise investment to spend £26 million to sign a potential replacement in the same month. When a spot in the Champions League is at stake, the dangers unquestionably outweigh the benefits.
