‘Terrible’: James Maddison jokes he wasn’t impressed by what Arsenal player did in first-half

James Maddison mocked Bukayo Saka by copying his goal celebration after giving Arsenal a lead against Tottenham on Sunday, joking that his actions were terrible.

Maddison was answering questions from Sky Sports as he left the Emirates after playing a part in a thrilling 2-2 draw in the first north London derby of the season.

Bukayo Saka played an important role in the opening goal against Spurs. The 22-year-old was left in every space and he fired a shot towards the far post.

Maddison reacts to Saka’s celebration

It looks like it’s passing by. But Cristian Romero was there, the Argentine managed to clear the ball into his own net.

The goal ultimately went down as an own goal. But that did not stop Saka celebrating as if the goal was his own. However, he took inspiration for his celebration for one of his opponents.

Tottenham fans are used to James Maddison throwing darts as he puts the ball into the net. And that clearly inspired Saka.

Maddison was questioned as he left the stadium to face Saka at Alexandra Palace. The Spurs man laughed and replied:

“Yes, but his actions were terrible.”

Maddison also joked to Spurs Play that Saka must still be celebrating when he scored Tottenham’s first equalizer. Tottenham can be very pleased with their performance at the Emirates. They fought back against the goal twice. And it is the partnership between Maddison and Son Heung-min that is increasingly strengthened.

The pair combined for both of Spurs’ goals on the afternoon.

Surely it won’t be long before we see Maddison having her own celebration again.
