The #5 overall recruit just two seasons ago, Domani Jackson ultimately chose USC over Alabama and Michigan in a closely followed recruiting battle. The Mater Dei product suffered a patella injury right before his freshman season and barely played outside of some special teams snaps, but he was a full-time starter for the Trojans in 2023 at corner. DB Coach Donte Williams leaving the team to head to Georgia seemed to have been a major factor in Jackson entering the portal.
It wasn’t a great debut season for the former top prospect, as he gave up 20 catches on 31 targets for 411 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Not awful, but not great, either. Of course, the entire USC defense was a disaster, so who knows what to glean from that.
Measureable-wise, Jackson is an impressive 6’1” 190 with an absurd 10.25s 100m dash (for reference, NFL super freak wide receiver D.K. Metcalf ran a 10.37). He’s a top-tier NFL-level athlete, but will need to take the next step in his game to put things together.
Alabama will very likely lose both Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold to the first round of the NFL draft, so the cornerback room will be wide open for a spring competition.
