Nick Walsh is set to officiate Celtic’s upcoming match at Tynecastle.

This weekend’s match comes a year after Celtic’s controversial 4-3 win at Tynecastle, a match notorious for poor decisions by referees and VAR officials.

This particular match marked the first time the SPFL used VAR in a match against Celtic.

Nick Walsh and Steven McLean, who oversee VAR, had a difficult day with some questionable decisions coming from the duo.

One of those decisions involved Anthony Ralston’s goal. Walsh whistled too soon before the ball hit the net, causing Ralston’s goal to be disallowed.

Another controversial moment came from the clear hand of Smith. As Forrest attempted to throw the ball into the box, it appeared Smith handled the ball. Even Smith’s immediate reaction suggested a possible offence, but both the on-field referee and VAR missed the offence.

Following these incidents, Football Scotland reports that Celtic have contacted the SFA to clarify the disputed decisions.
