In recent weeks, the Carolina Panthers have been linked to one Denver Broncos wide receiver — Jerry Jeudy.

But a recent trade proposal from Pro Football Focus has the Panthers snagging Courtland Sutton in a trade as the rumor mill around Jeudy quiets down.

The trade has the Panthers sending out a 2024 fourth-round pick and a 2025 sixth-rounder in return for the veteran pass-catcher, who also has a connection to the Panthers coaching staff.

“Sutton had one of the highlight catches of the young NFL season in the left corner of the end one against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6, and he leads the team with 25 receptions, 275 yards, and four touchdowns,” Brad Speilberger of PFF writes.

“Sutton’s five contested catches through Week 6 are tied for the ninth most among wide receivers on the season, and he can provide a big-bodied target that routinely boxes out defenders and wins on jump balls, an element from which Bryce Young could benefit.”

The Panthers appear committed to netting players that will help Young’s development throughout the rest of the season.

It has been reported that the Panthers are willing to make difficult decisions if it means getting the most out of the quarterback the franchises traded a bevy of future assets away to draft No. 1 overall.

Recently, on Monday, Frank Reich doubled down on Young’s toughness, which has often been called into question.

The Panthers are betting on their quarterback, and the team’s approach to the trade deadline is one of angling for the future while trying to expedite Young’s development in the 2023 regular season.

In the same PFF article, Speilberger has the Panthers trading away cornerback Donte Jackson and edge Justin Houston to the Detroit Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars for draft compensation.

If the Panthers choose to sell at next Tuesday’s trade deadline, walking away with a receiver and added draft capital wouldn’t be a terrible situation to end up in.
