The on-loan Everton midfielder made his first Premier League appearance of the season against Luton Town last weekend.

Everton manager Sean Dyche was delighted to see Jack Harrison, on loan from Leeds United, finally make his Premier League debut for the club in a 2-1 home defeat to Luton Town on Saturday. Harrison’s second-half appearance was a rare bright spot on an otherwise gloomy day for the Toffees, as the Hatters recorded their first win since promotion.

Harrison, 26, has been out injured since his temporary move to Goodison Park in the summer, but started the Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa in midweek before coming off the bench on half-time on Saturday for his Premier League debut. Dyche explained the midfielder’s situation after the match and hopes Harrison will be able to play longer as he improves his fitness.

“He is still in good shape,” Dyche said. “I said about his performance at Villa how well he did.

“He had to work a lot on his legs and his body, but it’s different when you play these matches and I think he only had 45 minutes in a youth team match and then he played well on Wednesday, I think., and I’m back.

“He’s developing real fitness and real sharpness, but I think you can see there’s talent there and there’s an effective player.”

Harrison scored 34 goals for Leeds United after securing an initial loan from Manchester City, before making the move permanent in a deal worth around £11m in 2021.
