After all those years, while doing a lot of winning, future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady always held a level of respect for the way the Buffalo Bills do their football.
Current Bills quarterback Josh Allen joined Brady and his co-host, Jim Gray, on the QB’s podcast “Let’s Go.”
Almost immediately Allen was asked about the fans in Buffalo and a lot of the reflection was rooted in history. Allen noted how Bills Mafia is so passionate, in part, because of how much the fans went through in the past as the franchise lost four-straight Super Bowls.
“It’s a fan base that’s starving to win a world championship,” Allen said. “You can still feel the hurt, the energy, and passion that they still have for those teams.”
As the question was asked, Brady did immediately acknowledge how livily Bills fans are. Gray shot the question and mentioned how Brady “felt the wrath” of going against fans in Buffalo.
Even Brady had to smile and nod, recognizing the emotion Bills fans brought.
Then after Allen responded and mentioned the team’s alumni, Brady did the same. He said how he always could feel how tight the entire community surrounding the Bills, between fans and players of past and present, really was.
“It’s always so funny–the years that I’ve played there and Jim Kelly’s on the sideline and Andre Reed’s there. Bruce Smith is around. Thurman Thomas, you’d see a lot. I think that they have such a close community of people. It feels like a real football fraternity of guys who have played for the Bills,” Brady said. “They do rally around their teams.”
