The latest Leicester City injury news as Enzo Maresca gives an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of their Championship clash with Stoke at the King Power Stadium.

Tom Cannon is no closer to a Leicester City debut as he continues his recovery from a back problem.

The forward, signed by Everton for £7.5m on deadline day, is still playing for City after a doctor revealed a stress fracture in his back. But despite being in the gym this week, he’s nowhere near a return. “It’s still the same process,” manager Enzo Maresca said of the 20-year-old striker in a press conference on Friday. “He is very far from being back with us. He continues.”

Dennis Praet has the same problem as Cannon and it was discovered at the same time. He is expected to return in November, which could mean the forward could be back in full training sometime next month. Maresca has no further injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s Championship clash with Stoke, meaning Cannon and Praet are among the four absentees. Kasey McAteer (hamstring) also returns next month, while Callum Doyle (knee) is out until the new year. Jannik Vestergaard returned to the competition on Saturday after a one-match suspension. However, Maresca hinted at the rotation of the game. He made a significant number of changes in Wednesday’s previous two games, at Norwich and Liverpool, but did not for this week’s clash with Preston, meaning some of his players could be rested this weekend.

“For the players, we used to rotate,” Maresca said. “We’ll see tomorrow. The way they work, they deserve to see everyone play again.”
