Jamie Shackleton will miss Leeds United’s win over QPR on Wednesday through injury, Daniel Farke has confirmed.

Farke was speaking at the post-match press conference following Leeds’ 1-0 win at Elland Road, which Shackleton surprisingly did not attend at all.
Shackleton has started all of Leeds’ last three Championship games, with Farke also confirming in the press on Tuesday that he will have no further injury problems against QPR.
However, Luke Ayling was the man to replace him on the right wing with Charlie Cresswell brought to the bench and taking Shackleton’s place in the matchday squad.
Farke has said in the past that Shackleton has a shoulder problem, although it hasn’t kept him out of any games so far.

Farke explains reason behind Shackleton absence

Unfortunately, though, Shackleton is said to have picked up a knock to his shoulder in training on Tuesday, meaning it was too painful for him to have any involvement.

Farke said: “Yes. Sadly, he got a little knock on his shoulder yesterday in training and he had some problems with the shoulder before, it was too painful and too sore in order to be involved tonight, and that was the reason he was not with us today.”

Farke could have problems at left back on Saturday if Shackleton does not recover in time from what was said about Sam Byram.

It is not yet certain whether Byram is fit to play three games in seven days and after such a short spell at Bristol City it seems unlikely that he will start.

Junior Firpo is already gone and if Shackleton is not fit Farke could be in real trouble and may have to play someone very wide.
