According to rumours, Tottenham have defeated Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign highly regarded 16-year-old defender Luka Vuskovic.

Vuskovic won’t likely relocate to north London until the summer of 2025, though.

Since making his first-team debut for Hajduk Split in February, the 6ft 4in tall centre back has caught the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs.

Just two days later, he turned 16; since then, he has made 11 appearances for his old team and has helped them win the Croatian Football Cup.

At various younger levels, he has also represented Croatia in the same amount of games.

Vuskovic was highly sought after since he was expected to become a future superstar. Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and PSG were among the clubs vying for his services.

But in the end, Spurs were able to obtain his services. According to the Evening Standard, they and Hajduk have agreed to a £12 million fee, with no remaining personal terms.

But the defender is set to stay in Split for the next two years to continue his development and will only link up with the Lilywhites after his 18th birthday.

Centre-back was a position Ange Postecoglou was looking to improve over the summer, bringing in Micky van de Ven who has made an excellent impact at his new club.
