Tottenham will be without their impressive Israeli forward Manor Solomon for a while after his injury in training.

Tottenham have confirmed that striker Manor Solomon has undergone surgery after injuring his knee in training, but gave no timetable for his return.

The Israeli forward impressed against Liverpool when he replaced captain Son Heung-min in the final 20 minutes of that dramatic win. But his life in north London was cut short when he picked up an injury in training, meaning he will miss Luton and then games after the international break. The club’s statement confirmed: “We can confirm that Manor Solomon has suffered a meniscus injury in his right knee during training this week.

“The striker will undergo surgery today and will immediately begin his rehabilitation with our medical staff. I wish you a speedy recovery, Manor!”

The 24-year-old has made two Premier League appearances so far this season, three from the bench, and has impressed when Ange Postecoglou has given him chances since joining Tottenham as a free agent in the summer. Spurs already have Brennan Johson, who missed the game against Liverpool and is keen to return against the Hatters, while Rodrigo Bentancur and Ryan Sessegnon look set to stay after the World Cup break.

This start of the season has been one of the best for the Lilywhites after five wins from their opening seven games and only two draws in the second leg of the campaign.

Manager Ange Postecoglou will talk more about the injury news when he speaks to the press later today.
