Just days before the North London derby, Tottenham has been dealt a devastating injury blow.

Under Ange Postecoglou’s direction, Spurs have had a fantastic start to the 2017 Premier League season.

Since being hired in the summer, he has led his team to four league triumphs this year, most notably a 2-0 victory over Manchester United last month.

They maintained their strong start last weekend, defeating Sheffield United 2-1 thanks to two goals scored in stoppage time.

On Sunday, Postecoglou’s squad will meet cross-town rivals Arsenal, who have 13 points as well, in league play.

Ivan Perisic won’t be available to the Australian manager for the match on Sunday at the Emirates.

After suffering a severe anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, he is anticipated to miss the remainder of the season.

The Croatian is set to undergo surgery on his right knee before starting his rehabilitation in London.

Spurs took to social media to deliver the crushing Perisic news.

On X, they wrote: “We can confirm that Ivan Perisic has suffered a complex Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in his right knee.

“The experienced Croatia international sustained the injury in non-contact training and will undergo surgery. Wishing you well in your recovery, Ivan.”

Perisic swung in an inviting corner to set up Richarlison as Spurs secured three league points against Sheff United.

He’s played five league games this season.

The 34-year-old signed for Spurs from Inter Milan in 2022, penning a two-year deal. His contract is set to expire next July.
