Man killed after shooting on Spruce Street, New Orleans police say

A 57-year-old man was killed after being shot in the Leonidas neighborhood of New Orleans on Saturday evening, according to New Orleans

Police were called to the 8400 block of Spruce Street around 5:45 p.m. to respond to a report that shots had been fired, police said. Emergency Medical Services transported one victim from the scene to a hospital, where police said the person was declared dead.

Police confirmed that the shooting had become a homicide about 7:22 p.m. but said no other information would be made available
