SANTA CLARA — While seven 49ers lead in Pro Bowl voting at their respective positions, Brock Purdy has garnered the fifth-most votes overall and surged into the lead among NFC quarterbacks.
Purdy (84,613 votes) ranks third among all NFL quarterbacks, behind the Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa (129,783) and the Texans’ C.J. Stroud (96,274).
The 49ers have not had a quarterback make the Pro Bowl since Jeff Garcia 21 years ago.
Running back Christian McCaffrey’s 100,008 votes are the second-most cast by fans for the Feb. 4 Pro Bowl Games, that will be held in Orlando, Florida, a week before the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
Joining McCaffrey atop their positions are linebacker Fred Warner, tight end George Kittle, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, left tackle Trent Williams, punter Mitch Wishnowsky and long snapper Taybor Pepper.
Defensive end Nick Bosa ranks second behind the Browns’ Myles Garrett, and the 49ers’ Chase Young is sixth at that position. Also ranking second is center Jake Brendel, behind the Eagles’ Jason Kelce.
