Last week was, well, terrible if you went with the favorites against the spread. (Hi, it’s me).

The seventh week of the NFL season truly was the Week of the Dog, as underdogs went 9-4 against the spread, including 5-0 at home.

Now, as we turn our attention to Week 8 here at FrontPageBets, we’re hoping the favorites come to play. This week’s sheet is pretty chalky, considering last week’s underdog run.

But it can’t happen two weeks in a row, can it?

Out of the 15 remaining Week 8 NFL games, we’re going with 11 favorites, including seven on the road. (And just so you know, road favorites are winning at around 52% of their games ATS, and nearly 63% straight up.)

The only games that buck that trend – other than the Vikings-Packers and Saints-Colts near-pick-em games – are Tennessee in an “upset” over Atlanta in Nashville and Miami not covering the 9.5 points against the New England Patriots in South Florida.

The Titans are 2.5-point underdogs and we like them at home, where they’re 2-0 as an underdog.

And while the Patriots are just 2-5 against the spread, their confidence is sky high coming off last week’s win over the Buffalo Bills. And the Dolphins’ near-10-point spread is just too much against Bill Belichick.

Earlier in the week, we also liked the Cincinnati Bengals at +5.5 over the San Francisco 49ers. But since then, the line has moved to 3.5 points, making it a safer pick to take the 49ers to cover.
