The Texas Rangers seemingly improbable and now impressive journey from one of the worst teams in baseball to the World Series has captured the hearts of Dallas-Fort Worth and has caught the attention of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Jones is working on getting his schedule straight so he can attend one or both of the first two World Series games at Globe Life Field, set for Friday and Saturday. The Rangers and Diamondbacks will play just down the street from AT&T Stadium where the Cowboys will face the Los Angels Rams on Sunday.

It’s inspirational,” Jones said. “The way I’d express how impressed I am, it’s inspirational. Because I know where they’ve come from.

And I know how hard they’ve been trying at it. Congratulations to everybody involved. It’s a great thing.”

It’s also not lost on Jones that this is the Rangers third trip to the World Series since the Cowboys last reached the Super Bowl in 1995 when they won the third of three titles in the 1990s. The 28-year drought looms large over the franchise.

So Jones is inspired by the Rangers but also admittedly envious.

“I’m elated but I’m envious,” Jones said. “I will assure my fans I have all the right feelings when they come out there and are successful.”
