Thoughts on Bryce Young
“You see the same guy from college with Bryce – a guy who is very smart when it comes to going through the progressions, making the proper reads, proper decisions with the football. You see the accuracy jumps off the tape and he’s very decisive where he goes with the ball. Zone coverage, man coverage, it really doesn’t matter. The accuracy, the decision-making is really great to see. He’s done a really good job.”
Why Adam Thielen has had so much success
“Thielen has had success because he’s a slippery route runner and they use him all over the field. He’ll lineup in multiple spots, motion him in different areas. They find ways to get him the ball. Whether it’s in stack concepts or bunch concepts, they do a good job of moving him around where he’s not on the line of scrimmage where guys can get hands on him. He has a lot of free access where he’s able to utilize his slippery route running ability. Very smart veteran player who you can see him and Bryce have that connection. Bryce can trust him a lot, goes to him a lot and he’s proven that he can make those plays for him.”
Carolina’s defense
“Their defense is a really good unit. I think it starts up front with (Derrick) Brown and (Brian) Burns. If you want to play good defense, it starts up front and they have two good players up front. They bring it every snap. Really talented players. On the edge with Burns we have to make sure we have eyes on him and get him handled because he can wreck a game. In the back end, they play sound coverage. Guys fly around at the linebacker position.”
Thomas Brown becoming the play-caller
“With Thomas starting his time as the play-caller, I’m happy for him to get the opportunity. He’s been a fast riser in this league. Going against him with the Rams, he’s done a really nice job there with the running backs, tight ends. And now for him to get the offensive coordinator and also the play-caller gig, I think it speaks to the coach that he is and how much respect those guys have for him. I think Thomas will do a really nice job of putting those guys in position to make plays.”
