It is looking increasingly likely that the Carolina Panthers will move on from Pro Bowl-caliber pass rusher Brian Burns.

But what is his trade value around the league? ESPN places him as a player worth at least two first-round picks at a minimum.

If the Panthers do wish to move on from Burns after failing to sign him to a long-term extension, the team would be remiss if it didn’t see a return on some of its lost draft capital from the 2023 deal that landed the team the No. 1 overall pick and rookie quarterback Bryce Young.

In a recent article by ESPN, they placed Burns’ value as two first-round picks “and more,” which makes sense for a player who has anchored the Panthers’ defense for the past two seasons at a high level.

Take a look at what ESPN had to say:

“Two first-round picks: OLB Brian Burns. Well, we know the Panthers wouldn’t take two first-round picks and more from the Rams for Burns a year ago, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. Now, a year later, those same first-rounders likely would get a deal done. Burns is a year closer to free agency, and the Panthers have struggled to sign him to a new contract, in part because they implicitly valued him as a player worth more than two first-round picks by turning down the offer from L.A. With Carolina desperate for draft capital after making the Bryce Young trade, a Burns swap could get them valuable playmakers to put around their young quarterback. If they asked the Rams for wideout Puka Nacua, would Los Angeles be willing to include him in the deal?”

In the end, it seems clear that the Panthers are deadset on recouping at least a first-round draft pick for Burns.

But as the trade deadline nears, that could be subject to change.
