After being absolutely trounced by the San Francisco 49ers on primetime last week, the Dallas Cowboys have been a popular topic of discussion. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, widely known for his outspoken personality and hatred for the Cowboys, was having a field day on First Take on Monday after the Cowboys’ 42-10 loss to the 49ers on Sunday Night Football.

Not only was Smith having a grand old time poking fun at the Cowboys for the brutal performance they had on national television, but he also won some money in the process.

During First Take, the crew discussed a wager that Smith made with fellow ESPN analyst, Marcus Spears. Smith predicted that Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott would throw at least two interceptions against the 49ers on Sunday Night Football and if he did, Spears would owe him $1,000. Fast forward to the end of the 49ers-Cowboys game, Prescott threw three interceptions.

The First Take crew was having fun on-air at Spears’ dispense. They were discussing the various types of ways they could have Spears pay Smith. Dan Orlovsky suggested that Spears pay Smith on live television during First Take for the entire nation to see. Shannon Sharpe proposed an idea for Spears to pay Smith in quarters.

However, we live in a digital world in 2023 and Smith recognizes that. “There is such thing as the Cash App,” Smith states repeatedly during the segment.

Whatever the method of payment may be, it seems as though this won’t be the last we’ll be hearing of this friendly wager between Smith and Spears.
