
EASLEY, S.C. (WHNS/Gray News) – Authorities in South Carolina say a mother is in custody in connection with the horrific death of a newborn baby.
Last Friday, the Easley Police Department said it received a 911 call about a medical emergency for a woman who had recently given birth at an apartment complex.
Police and Pickens County EMS responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m.
Officers said they found a newborn baby boy with serious injuries. Medical personnel declared him dead at the scene.
“I’ve been doing this for two and a half decades, and I have never seen anything this gruesome,” Easley Police Chief Brandon Liner said. “I’ve never seen anything this bad.”
The baby boy’s official cause and manner of death have not yet been released, but Liner said he was murdered by his mother, identified as An T Ngo.
The boy’s mother has been charged with homicide by child abuse.
