The Auburn Tigers scored a major recruiting win when four-star running back Kingston Miles committed to the Tigers over Alabama and Missouri. The commitment gives Auburn momentum on the recruiting trail and adds another talented playmaker to its future backfield.

While Auburn fans celebrated, the loss is not expected to cause much concern inside the Alabama Crimson Tide program. Alabama already secured a commitment from highly regarded four-star running back Nigel Newkirk, who is viewed as one of the foundation pieces of the Crimson Tide’s 2027 class.
Miles had been on Alabama’s radar for months, but many recruiting observers believed his chances of joining the Tide decreased once Newkirk committed. That decision allowed Alabama’s coaching staff to focus more heavily on other running back targets still available.

The biggest names remaining on Alabama’s board are Tai Phillips and Trey Martin. Phillips has emerged as a fast-rising prospect with explosive potential, while Martin remains one of the most sought-after running backs in the South despite strong competition from LSU Tigers.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer continues to pursue both prospects aggressively. Alabama’s staff reportedly believes it still has a legitimate shot at landing Martin, while Phillips has become an increasingly attractive option due to his production and upside.
For Auburn, landing Miles is a significant victory in the rivalry. But for Alabama, the focus remains on assembling a complete recruiting class rather than winning every individual battle. With Newkirk already committed and other top targets still in play, the Crimson Tide remain in position to build one of the nation’s strongest future running back groups.
