70,000 seats. A historic 4-1 win. And somewhere in that vast SoFi Stadium bowl, scattered among tens of thousands of screaming fans, sat some of the most recognisable faces on the planet.
President Trump couldn’t make it — he had an 80th birthday party to plan back in Washington, which is a sentence that exists in real life apparently. But don’t worry, the A-list showed up anyway. Hollywood absolutely came knocking on Friday night. Here’s everyone we spotted.

David Beckham & Tom Cruise
The most glamorous pairing of the entire evening. Beckham — who has been on American television screens so frequently this summer that fans are starting to think he’s a permanent fixture on their TV sets — was actually at the game in person for once rather than selling something. The Inter Miami co-owner had attended his own Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony earlier in the day before settling into the premium seats alongside Tom Cruise to watch the action unfold. Two of the most famous people on the planet casually watching football together. Just a normal Friday night in Los Angeles.

Jason Sudeikis
Ted Lasso himself was in the building — and not just as a fan. Sudeikis has been appointed as an official World Cup ambassador, which means his fictional football obsession has now become very much a real one. He took to a giant stage in the centre circle before kickoff to deliver a speech to a stadium that was either empty or completely distracted. Classic Ted Lasso energy honestly.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
The NBA legend spent 14 seasons scoring points for the Los Angeles Lakers just a stone’s throw from SoFi Stadium. Friday night’s vintage USA attacking display was impressive — though perhaps not quite as prolific as Kareem in his prime. The man knows a thing or two about putting up numbers.

George Lucas
The Star Wars creator was caught on the stadium’s giant screen mid burger, which is both deeply relatable and somehow perfectly on brand for one of the most private filmmakers in Hollywood. Lucas isn’t exactly a known football fan but he may have been drawn in by US left back Antonee Robinson — whose obsession with the sci-fi franchise is so intense that his teammates simply call him Jedi. The force was strong at SoFi on Friday night.
Owen Wilson & Vince Vaughan
Hollywood’s most beloved comedy duo were both in attendance — though apparently entering through different parts of the stadium because even at the World Cup these two can’t quite coordinate properly. Wilson is a regular LAFC attendee and has been completely swept up in the Messi MLS wave sweeping America. His old co-star Vaughan was spotted nearby, presumably just as entertained.
Jamie Foxx
Actor. Singer. Producer. Entrepreneur. Owner of a genuinely eye catching orange beanie hat. And now apparently a football fan too. Foxx was in the building on Friday night adding yet another string to his already impossibly long bow.
IShowSpeed
The internet’s most chaotic football fanatic was never going to miss this one. Speed — who has made his love for the beautiful game loudly and dramatically known to his millions of followers across every platform imaginable — was spotted at SoFi soaking it all in. Somewhere in that stadium a man was almost certainly screaming at the top of his lungs every time the USA went forward. We think we know who.

Derwin James Jr.
SoFi Stadium is the LA Chargers safety’s regular home ground — so Friday night was essentially a working from home situation for him. James turned up with his partner to watch the round ball version of football for a change. A crossover event even he probably didn’t see coming when he signed for the Chargers.

Trump may have missed it. But with a guest list like this, we’re not sure the night needed him anyway. 🇺🇸⚽🔥
